Rise and shine at Camp!

We slept fairly good with little Scarlett stuffed between us. The 8 inch inflatable mattresses are the best. When setting up camp with the family you got to have products that help and work for you. We have realized this after camping a few times. They are even and the air does not move around a bunch if we move. The big, tall mattress seem to move so much if you move while sleeping. And they are just big and bulky for camping.

We got up and started breakfast. Toasted english muffins, crunchy bacon and breakfast stew. Eliana’s favorite breakfast. Potatoes, eggs, cheese and tamatoes. And of course anything else you have on hand or want to through in. After cleaning up camp, we all took a little rest in Cody and mines 4 person tent.

A little chill time and then to change as it warms up quick once the sun comes up. Through the night we think it got in the low 30s and then by lunch time it’s about 75 degrees.

Family time hanging around Camp

Laying in the tent under the shade, I hear the creek flowing by. Of course all the kids want in the tent too. As it’s shaded and cool. Such a refresher from the hot sun.

We ate a quick dinner so we would be fueled up. Afterwards heading out to Fifth Water Hot Springs which starts at Three Forks Trailhead. We parked in the last space as it’s a hot spot with many visitors. Lots of people where coming and going.

Hiking to Fifth Water Hot Springs

It took us one hour to hike the 2.2 mile trail to the hot springs area. Along the entire hike the river is flowing and cascading down. Flowers blooming and shade trees hanging over the trail. It was early evening when we started so not sure how sunny it would be at another time of the day.

The hike up Three Forks Trail.

Once you reach the bridge it’s the halfway point. And the trail is a steady incline with many rocks along it. There was huge boulders along the side that looked like rocks could just pop right out of them. I’ve never seen boulders quite like them before.

At the bridge we had a treat of Reese’s peanut butter cups to keep the kids trekking on, we normally do granola bars thou. Even still when we arrived, Max was hungry again. Coming over the hill we saw the main green pool first and it was full of people. So we hiked up near the big river waterfall and noticed a family we have been following on Instagram for well over a year Notlostjustrving.

Hanging out together at the Hot Springs

What a fun surprise to run into someone you’ve been wanting to meet for a while. We hit it off right away and Cody soaked with Derrick in the shallow pool. While the kids had fun hanging out with their son, Sam.

After chatting for a while, Cody and I decided we would go down and check if we could fit in the green pool. And YAY there was room. Sliding into the water it felt pretty hot, but so good. It had a mineral feel to it as well. I enjoy that in a natural hot spring. Soaking and visiting with people in the big pool was a great time. Then Manny, Derrick and the kids joined us and we had a fun time all together.

Cody & Scarlett hanging out in the main Hot Springs. And of course Scarlett has her rocks.

The sun set and darkness fell with the moonlight ascending over us. After a while Scarlett was done and I got out to get her dressed and feed her. Then we all changed and bundled up in our coats to start the hike down. It was dark so we used our diamond headlamp to light the way.

Hiking down in the Dark back to Camp as a family.

Max held my hand as we hiked and it was a sweet feeling. At Eliana’s idea we told stories and jokes and even tried some improv together. As we hiked down late at night we met mulpltle groups of people hiking up to enjoy their time at the hot springs.

It took us 1 hour to get down as well. We loaded into our Ford Freestyle and headed the 10 minutes back to our campsite. Climbing into our warm sleeping bags back at camp felt so good and we drifted off to sleep as a family.

Heres a look into the first day of camping for us.

Comment below and tell us about a hot springs you have visited. We love hearing about more places and your adventures on this great Earth. And ask me any questions you have and I’ll do my best to help you.
