If you love natural hot spring pools then you will love Fifth Water Hot Springs. There is pools all along the river with little soaking areas. A creamy green pool at the perfect height to sit and soak your entire body. Sulfur streams and waterfalls flowing over round stones. With the river rushing down right beside. In conclusion, an amazing spot to chill.

The hike up to the Hot Springs

There is a bathroom at the trailhead. But when I used it, it was very smelly and dirty as it’s probably a very high use restroom. As a result I recommend using it before hand.

From the sign you head straight and follow the trail along the river. Flowers where blooming and the river was cascading down beautifully. Once you reach the bridge you are about halfway. It’s a steady 2.2 mile hike in that we did in an hour. Here’s a look into our day when we hiked it. Likewise the hike itself was worth it as it’s along the river and has hills jutting up beside it.

Hiking to Fifth Water Hot Springs.

Boulders and stones scatter areas with flowers and grass blending in among them. Along most of the trail is trees providing some form of shade. But the hike and hot springs can dehydrate you so bring plenty of water. There is also a few areas to the side of the trail with a camp fire ring and some space to pitch a small tent.

We arrived at the Springs

When you come over the hill you are greeted with a creamy green pool. It was filled with people but looked like the perfect height to sit and relax. Cody checked the water and said it felt great. Behind it was a large stone with very shallow water filling up the area. Three girls were sitting and soaking in the water that was a few inches deep.

We turned and hiked a few feet down the trail and up a little incline to change beside a tree and Boulder. It provided a little bit of privacy and we could see if anyone was coming.

Then we hiked past and over the green pool to more pools. The river had a beautiful waterfall. The river and hot springs merged into many little areas where people were soaking. Cody and the kids found some shallow pools and chilled out. I stayed out as I knew it was to shallow for Scarlett. My concern was she would get wet and then be exposed to the air as it was cool out.

The kids ran up past the waterfall to find the upper hot springs we were told is up there. I was told it was hotter and only a five-minute walk but the kids didn’t make it there. Cody, Scarlett and I headed back down to the emerald pool to see if there was room for us and Yay there was.

The Main Hot Spring

Sliding in to the creamy water felt warm and perfect. The tempamptures do very all the time depending on how much snow melt or how much of the river flows in. The water came up to our shoulders and you could feel the minerals soaking in. Darkness started to ascend upon us as we were soaking. After we were all done we climbed up and dressed with the light of Cody’s diamond headlamp.

The hike down from the Hot Springs in the dark

As we hiked down under the moonlight and with our headlamps. It took us 1 hour to get down. At 10:30 on a Sunday night in June we met many groups heading up the trail. There was a family and even a couple with gear to camp out.

It was a busy hot springs but I would still recommend going and enjoying the beautiful hike with scenery reaching to the sky. The springs felt so good once we got our turn to soak.

How to get to Fifth Water Hot Springs

Driving south on I-15 past Provo take 6 east for about 11 miles and then take a left onto Diamond Fork Road. Drive 9.4 miles down and on the left is the sign for Three Forks Trailhead. Next turn into the parking area in hopes to find a parking spot. We got the last one when we arrived around 6:00 in the evening. In addition you can park along the road but only if totally off the road and past the white line.
